About Us

Dorchester House offers a comfortable semi self-catering suite, for either corporate or leisure travelers. Conveniently situated in the upmarket suburb of Parklands in Cape Town it is just 20 minutes from VA Waterfront, Cape Town.  Dorchester House suite is a 7-minute drive from the Blouberg beachfront, where you can experience wonderful beach walks, with picturesque Table Mountain views and Robben Island in sight from the beach.

This area is a Mecca for wind surfing, kite-sailing and sea related sports. Many restaurants and pubs hug the coastline of Blouberg. International airport is 25 minutes drive away, V&A Waterfront and 20 minutes drive and Canal Walk shopping mall a 15 minute drive which is a paradise for shoppers. For those who fancy gambling 20 minutes drive away is the Grand West Casino with entertainment, restaurants, indoor ice rink and shows. 

The Suite

A separate private entrance to the suite, with off street parking. There is access for visitors to communal splash pool and braai facilities. The suite is equipped with double bed en suite (shower), lounge-kitchenette with DSTV, Wifi, kettle, toaster and microwave with a bar fridge. (No stove). Initial complimentary tea/coffee; milk and sugar provided.  Restaurants, Food stores and take outs are within the Parklands area and a shopping mall within walking distance. My City Bus stop in walking distance.

The suite is serviced weekly with a change of linen/towels. Laundry service is available at a fee. A deposit is required to secure this unit. Long term stay rates can be arranged at reduced price. Key and remote control deposit of R200.00, refunded on departure.

About Cape Town

Cape Town is at the tip of the southwest coast, on a peninsula beneath the famous Table Mountain. There are Golf Courses near to Dorchester House, a 5 minute drive to either Milnerton Golf Club or Atlantic Beach Golf Course. For the adventurous there is gambling at Grand West Casino a mere 20 minutes drive away with entertainment, restaurants, ice skating rink.

The sites such as Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens – 30 minutes drive away. Cape of Good Hope Game and Nature Reserve 60 minutes drive. The Cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain – 20 minutes drive.

The West Coast has many interesting and quaint fishing villages that can be visited ie: Melkbosstrand, Yusterfontein, Saldanah, Langerbaan and Velddrift. Wine Farms is a must to visit Paarl, Wellington, Stellenbosch, Spier Wine Farm or Franschoek. Game Reserves on the west coast and east coast main road such as Aquilla is known for it’s Big Five and is only 90 minutes away. Shark cage diving an experience for the hunger seeking individuals!

Shark Diving & Aquarium

Breaching is a hunting technique of the great white shark whereby these majestic creatures propel their entire bodies out of the ocean in pursuit of their prey. The Grand West Casino is Cape Town's premiere gambling establishment and is only 20 minutes drive from Dorchester House. It is part of Sun International. The casino's slot machine are linked to the progressive jackpots and also card gambling. The Grand Casino hosts movie theatres, live shows stadium, various restaurants and an Ice Skating rink.

Food & Coffee culture

Cape Town has a gigantic growth in the java business. In fact, the Coffee Club the coffee and food industry has grown from a mere 20 roasteries to over 100 spots! Naming a few: Anthony's Golden Cup Coffee Shop; Mischu Coffee Showroom; Byblos Trading Co. and Origin Coffee Roasting all found in and around the main CBD area. We have a growing interest in restaurants, gourmet eating out and fun places to visit in Cape Town.

Game Reserves

Fairy Glen Private Game Reserve is located 1 hour from Cape Town. The reserve measures 20 000 hectares and is home to various wild game and bird species. Aquila Game Reserve is situated in the Southern Karoo, near Touws river it is 4500 HA game reserve among exquisite mountains and valleys, wide open spaces makes for varied and ideal game viewing. There is a restaurant and gift shop in the main manner house.

History & Heritage

South Africa has 11 official languages and their corresponding cultures that identify South Africa’s “Rainbow Nation”.  To enjoy and view various cultural sites, such as The Castle of Good Hope which was  built in 1666 by the Dutch East India Company and the oldest building in the country. Also, a must to visit Bo-Kaap technicolour homes of our Muslim community of Bo-Kaap, is a Capetonian colourful home icon. The buildings in and around Cape Town, have unmistakable Cape-Dutch architecture. Make use of the Red and Blue Bus to tour around which is inexpensive and easy to use. It is a drop-off / get- on at various sites.

Wine Farms

You haven’t been to Cape Town if you have not visited the wine farms! The beauty of the Cape is that you don’t have to drive far to visit the top wine farms. Within a 20 minutes drive you will be situated in the famous wine lands. Wine tasting, has become a popular outing and can be enjoyed with your friends and family.
